Note: –

  • It will erase all your phone data, so we advise you first to take a complete backup of your phone and then proceed.
  • Ensure that your phone has at least 50-60% charged to prevent the unexpected shutdown in-between the process.

How to Downgrade from Android Oreo to Nougat

1) Enable USB debugging and OEM Unlock from setting>developer option>. To enable Developer Options, go to About phone and tap the Build Number 7 times.

2) Download ADB and fastboot driver for windows or ADB and Fastboot for Mac and install it on your PC.

3) Download Nougat Factory image from above and extract it in ADB and Fastbot folder.

4) Go to ADB  installation directory and press and hold ‘shift’ key and right-clicked anywhere in the folder and select ‘Open command window here’.

5) Now connect your device to PC and enter into the fastboot mode.

adb reboot bootloader

6) You are in the Fastboot mode now to check your connection by entering below command in command prompt.

fastboot devices

7) Go to the command line and type below command. It will only take seconds to complete the process.

fastboot flashing unlock
(If above command won't work try this command fastboot oem unlock)

8) Now your device will reboot into bootloader mode.

9) Open the command prompt and navigate to the unzipped system image directory.

10) Now Execute the “flash-all.bat“, it will unzip the image files and install the necessary bootloader, baseband firmware(s), and operating system. The step will install Android Nougat system image on Nexus and Pixel devices.

11) If you want to lock your device again then issue the below command.

fastboot flashing lock
fastboot oem lock (For older devices)

12) Done.

    Hi, what does the last command do about locking the device after flashing? (fastboot flashing lock)

  2. Please tell me I’m wrong… but this doesn’t seem like it’ll work for Verizon phones since they disable the ability to activate OEM Unlock, which is a requirement for the downgrade to work. Yes?
