How to Install Android 7.0 Nougat Firmware on Lenovo P2 P2a42

Install Nougat on Stock Lenovo P2 (Non-Rooted)

  1. Download the Official Nougat OTA for Lenovo P2 from above.
  2. Now save the file to your phone and rename it to ‘Update.zip‘
  3. Now Power off your device.
  4. Boot your phone into the recovery mode.
  5. Now click on ‘Install Upgrade Package‘ and Select ‘Update.zip‘
  6. Now wait for some time until the installation process complete.
  7. Your phone will reboot and upgraded to Nougat.
  8. Done.

Install Nougat on Rooted Lenovo P2

  1. Download Flashable Nougat ROM for Lenovo P2 from above and save it on your device.
  2. Now turn off your device and boot into TWRP Recovery.
  3. Now in TWRP, create a Nandroid backup (Recommended) of your device for safer side, if anything goes wrong.
  4. Now do a Factory Reset by Goto Wipe>Advanced Wipe>Select Wipe cache, Dalvik cache, System, and data and swipe to confirm it.
  5. Now, Go to Install and locate the ROM zip file & swipe to Install the ROM file.
  6. Now wipe cache & Dalvik cache again and Reboot your device.
  7. Done!

    I have Lenovo P2 bought from 3 UK a few days ago. I had P2a42_s056_161130_UK on it.

    I tried the “Lenovo P2 official Nougat OTA zip for stock recovery users”
    file from here and I kept getting an error “will not install” message at recovery boot.
    I then used a file from XDA and it worked. So if the file from here doesn’t work for you then maybe try the one on XDA at:
    https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/development/7-0-lenovo-p2a42-stock-nougat-update-t3581517 .
    I posted a reply on there with details of my success under the username-Dasto85.

    So after flashing(This file or XDAs) ignore app error popups on first boot and check System Update.
    Then install the latest System Update. This will fix all the error popups.
    Currently the latest version is: P2a42_S233_170404_ROW .

    Thank you for the helpful article but the file just didn’t work for my phone. I’m sure it does for others but just not me.

      Just to confirm, I am in the same boat as you, purchased a P2 from Three UK (Great phone) But now told will be stuck on 6.0. Does this ‘stock’ method leave the phone in an unrooted state? My concern is that companies are now block rooted phones (Netflix / PokemonGo etc…). Thanks

    Could you use this on a Chinese version of the phone. To bring it to Europe version.
