The Marshmallow update for Yu devices is in Beta stage, and these smartphone will get a stable Android Marshmallow build in next 30 days. The exclusive deal for Cyanogen-Yu ended earlier this month and the YU is now working on a new OS, called Yu-Open-OS under ‘Project Highway‘. Under ‘Project Highway’ we will be curating source codes from multiple drop points, such as Google’s AOSP repos, Chipset Vendors Repos, Various ROMs (where the community developers contribute), Internal YU customization and finally creating one manifest which will be able to support all YU based devices and other Andriod devices too.

Prerequisites –
- You should have Yu Yureka, Yuphoria, and Yunique device.
- Your device bootloader must be unlocked.
- Download ADB and fastboot driver for windows or ADB and Fastboot for Mac and install it on your PC. This will also install your device driver.
- Enable ‘USB debugging’ and ‘OEM Unlock’ option from setting>developer option>. To enable Developer Options, go to About phone and tap the Build Number 7 times.
- It will erase all your personal data including data of internal storage, so we advise you first to take a complete backup of your phone and then proceed.
- Ensure that your phone has at least 50-60% charged to prevent the accidental shutdown in-between the process.
How to Install Marshmallow on Yu Yureka, Yuphoria, and Yunique manually –
1) Download Official Marshmallow Yu OS from above and extract it on your PC to the ADB installer directory.
2) Now go to installation directory open ADB folder and open the command window thereby pressing and hold the ‘shift’ key and right-clicked anywhere in that folder.
3) Now connect your device to PC and enter into the fastboot mode. To enter in fastboot mode of Lenovo ZUK Z1 type the below command in command prompt.
adb reboot bootloader
4) You are in Fastboot mode now to check your connection by entering below command in command prompt. It will return your device serial number means your device properly connected. Check your driver if the above command is not responding. (device code input: -i 0x2A96 for Yuphoria, -i 0x1ebf for Yureka)
fastboot <device code> devices
5) Now Unlock the bootloader of your device with below command.
We used device code of Yureka 0x1ebf as an example replace it with your device code
fastboot -i 0x1ebf oem unlock
6) Now place the following command to Format User data on your device.
fastboot -i 0x1ebf format userdata
7) Now issue the following command one by one to flash the YU OS on your device.
fastboot -i 0x1ebf flash boot boot.img fastboot -i 0x1ebf flash recovery recovery.img fastboot -i 0x1ebf flash system system.img fastboot -i 0x1ebf flash userdata userdata.img
8) Now relock your bootloader with following command.
fastboot -i 0x1ebf oem lock
9) Reboot your device.
fastboot -i 0x1ebf reboot
10) Done.
The above commands will install the Official Marshmallow Yu OS for Yu Yureka, Yuphoria, and Yunique. If you have any doubts comment below.

you must download g apps zip file for your mobile phone and then reflash the os with gapps(first flash os then g apps then reboot your phone)

hey, i did all the same as mentioned. Now my phone is continuously vibrating once switched on.
Once after flashing, i locked the bootloader i guess that caused me that problem. Once i again i performed the same process without locking the boot loader, now its stuck in boot logo.

Ya sure. After flashing with all the commands, i believe ” fastboot -i 0x1ebf oem lock ” this command of locking boot loader is causing the issue. Better not perform it and directly move onto rebooting once all the process is done. Please be patient as in for a while it looks like its stuck in boot loop. Later on it will boot normally. Also make sure you have charged your device well before performing to avoid unexpected power off during this process.
How you managed to install Google apps?
Also, I am aware its beta build and i have observed several bugs. How and where can i report it. Can you drop of a link to it which will be quite helpful for a small contribution.

Can this be rooted and can i install Custom recovery on this. I want to flash other ROM so am not sure how do i do it when i am having this beta build.

my yureka was rooted, and then i installed this os by following these methods, and later i realised my rood access have been denied after that full format, so if you flash this os, you will be unrooting your phone too along with it

but to get back, i tried all the possibilities but the the phone when into boot loop,
but only the firmware stock version helped me restore..

Try again and this time skip step no 8. Some users says that cause the issue. Also try clearing the cache from recovery.

The one I posted is the right way. I only say to skip that step because some user make it work without it. You can also check the step from ots official forum and also try 2nd method adb sideload.

For those who face the problem for Opengapps … here is the solution.. Download YUOS Official – Andriod 6.0.1 from http://download.yuplaygod.com/ and use it… do all the steps just skip “”fastboot -i 0x1ebf oem lock”” reboot and enjoy ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Both the method works…the link you shared has batch files which automated the process and with above method you have to flash the files manually. Both methods will you can use any of them.

Hi! I followed these steps and stuck at the logo overnight. I tried to get it boot into fastboot mode (Vol Up+Power) and the phone is not detected, so I can try to reinstall.
