Sumit,
Thanks very much for your well written article. I feel like I’m so close to making this work, I can taste it! :)
My problem though is that my LG V0 H900 is an evaluation model. That being said, LGUP shows it as an
“Unknown Model” and is unable to proceed. Any suggestions or workarounds to this issue?
Thank you,
Silver
Hi Silver, I’m glad you like this post..
Try this..First Uninstall lg uptool and lg drivers then re-install lg drivers and then install lg uptool dll file first and then uptool file. It may work this way.
What is the location of the “common” folder I’m supposed to copy?
You can find it inside the lgupnew.zip folder
Has anyone found any drawbacks to this Root.I read somewhere that messaging stopped working. Is it reversible. do all the phones functions still work?
Does this work with 6.0?
No, it doesn’t work on Marshmallow for now.
What does 6.0 root date look like?
i would also love an eta, i just upgraded on cricket from a note 3 to an lg v10. and in doing so lost my foxfi. i need to root the new phone to take advantage of this good unlimited data on cricket
I tried to root the H900 but it wouldnt let me use the rootedsystemvs.tot file. The H900 comes with a rootedsystemh900.tot file. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks
whats the Error and what is your Android version
This works perfectly. Just follow the instructions. I actually rooted then had to redo this explot ( uninstalled a system app LG needed, I use cyanogemod on other phone) worked perfect. on VS990. I still need a custom recovery system and a way to access boatloader. Thanks.
am I supposed to choose upgrade, FOTA upgrade, or refurbish?
Select “Upgrade”
Got the error:
tot anti rollback version is smaller than device version
When using LGUP to install the TOT file. Not sure what to do next. This is for the H900
What’s your Android Version? It only works on Android Lollipop, not on Marshmallow.
My phone isn’t showing up for step 6. What should I do?
I think I found the issue – My computer keeps failing to extract rootedsystemh900.zip – Still dont know what to do :3
This is for everybody – After failing to extract, I deleted all the files I had downloaded so far and redownloaded – it extracted correctly. It continued to fail to find my phone or give me any other error messages, so I ended up stumbling upon this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?s=887788cc9537f8c68ea9986f000d1208&attachmentid=2480396&d=1388281089
after completing the proccess in the pictures I tried again and got the error message that I was missing drivers – so I downloaded the mobile drivers for my phone (http://www.andromods.com/download-files/latest-lg-v10-drivers-usb-adb-fastboot.html) and that finally fixed everything.
Hope this info helps anybody else who has my same issues in the future. Goodluck and go team Red.
Would somebody PLEASE come up with a root for Marshmallow?! GEEZ!!
Seconding this.
You would think they would have it by now.
I can’t find the rootedsystemvs.tot file when I’m browsing in the LGUP tool. Any idea where it may be?
Only worked on my windows 8, not 7, had to download a rar file opener as well.
Can anybody tell me how to fix this and why is it happening…
