The beauty of adaptive planning is its ability to take data from a wide variety of data sources. Using its robust integration framework, you can directly integrate to use a number of data sources like Workday or create your own custom cloud data source. The power that comes with being able to generate unique identifiers and excellent storylines that will accurately inform decision making and projections.

1. Adaptive Can Be Used as a Data Source

Businesses can use any data source, but many don’t realize that adaptive data planning can use Adaptive itself as a data source. One method of doing this is using a modeled sheet. You can choose an entire modeled sheet to import into the staging table. Because modeled sheets have more data on them than what appears on the model’s front end, Adaptive will bring in things like dimension names and codes, and a unique ID for that additional data.

2. The Attribute Source

With the attribute source you can bring your current attribute structure to the staging table. Level, dimension, and account attributes are imported along with all others and given an attribute ID. Even deleted attributes will be placed in a “Deleted” column.

3. The Dimension Source

The dimension source imports dimension values to the staging table. For every dimension value that is displayed, the assigned dimension attributes will correspond. You can see the dimensions existing in a hierarchy or as a flat list according to your needs or preference. Adaptive planning allows for the kind of customization that will move your organization forward in a way that makes sense for the way you run your business.

4. Filtering

If you’re interested in cherry picking your data, it is possible to filter the data so that only a specific dimension/level is imported to the staging table. Different data points can be imported into the Adaptive data source to give you the insights you need.

5. Personnel Models

In personnel models, it can be necessary to have unique dimensions on every modeled sheet row, but this isn’t always possible. To achieve this, Adaptive modeled data source can create data loader sets that produce unique identifiers for every modeled sheet row and place those identifiers right on the modeled sheet. Being able to have personnel data organized in one place is necessary for informing personnel cost forecasting. By using dimension attributes along with the dimension and attribute data source, an Adaptive data identifier can stay with a position over multiple versions instead of applying new identifiers with each forecasting cycle.

When your business is ready to implement this type of integration into the Adaptive data source, there are experienced IT professionals who can walk you through the process. Having unique identifiers that work for you is a big part of being able to make distinctions between data points. Think of it as a sort of map that is guiding the decisions of your organization in a way that maximizes productivity and real-time views.
