How to install Stock Marshmallow Firmware on Honor 5X –

Method 1

1) First, download Android 6.0 Marshmallow ROM for Honor 5X from above and extract it.

2) Now create a folder dload in the root of your SD card and place the update.app file in that folder.

3) Now go to the phone settings–>update and press the menu button.

4)  Now select choose Local update.

5) It will show the update.app file now tap on it to start the installation process.

6) Wait until the installation process is complete and then reboot your device., you have latest firmware

7) Done.

Method 2

1) Download  Stock ROM for Honor 5X from above and extract it.

2) Now create a folder dload in the root of your SD card and place the update.app file in that folder.

3) Now turn off your device.

4) Now press “Volume Up + Volume Down and Power Button” together. The update process will start automatically.

5) Now wait for some time to complete the process.

6) Done.

    Hi, I have twrp recovery, and as per your prerequisites, we should have the stock recovery, so does that mean it will not work?

          I used this method to get to stock recovery, worked like a charm. Copied from http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/unrooted-stock-rom-t3308902

          I downloaded the stock Firmware, however I wasn’t able to install it since I had TWRP and it was blocking it…. so I found this tool, Huawei Update Extractor that can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show….php?t=2433454 Then used this Extractor to expand the firmware and extract the stock Recovery.img out of it. Then flashed that to the phone via fastboot. Now, I was able to run the stock firmware update via the factory EMUI update app. Once that was done I was able too boot the phone back up and I was suprised to find that it didn’t wipe the phone, I guess it ran it as a true “upgrade” instead of a nuke and pave…. BONUS!

          Anyhow, then I was able to flash the new TWRP recovery back in place and now I’m currently creating a backup…. which if I had taken the time to do in the first place none of this would have happend. Oh, well… who needs more than 3 hours of sleep….. its not like I work full time and have 5 kids under 5

          Hope this helps someone who gets flash happy and forgets to make a back up like I did!

    Hi i download B330 Marshmallow OTA for Honor 5X KIW- L21 (Update over B140) and copy the update.app from update\firmware\image to dload folder in internal storage and try to local update but in reboot show this message ” software install failed” my device model is KIW-121 and build number is KIW-XXXXXXXB140 HOW CAN I DO PLEASE HELP

    Can you please tell me what to do after extracting the files in the zip? I can find the update.app in firmware->image. What do I have to do after that exactly?

      Create a new folder named dload in ypur sd card and move that update.app in dload folder

    I have down this, but now the EMUI screen boots and it gives me 3 options: “Reboot system now”, “Wipe data/factory reset” and “Wipe Cache partition”. I chose reboot and it keeps going in an endless cycle. Is my phone broken now?

    I tried to wipe the cache partition and have the update.app in a folder named dload on the root of the external microSD – it just keeps going into the EMUI screen with those options. Ops – I have the German L21 version

    there are 3 folders
    one is dload
    then 2 other folders
    inside dload there is an update.app folder
    should i directly copy the dload or extract the update.app and then create a folder on sd card named dload and then copy the updare.app
    which one
    the 1st methd
    or the second
    pls help i tried extacting it and tried to go to updater and then download local update sd card thingy but its written update failed
    whatmust i do

      extract the update.zip and then create a folder on sd card named dload and then copy the update.app. You can try any method both works fine.

    When installing the process is stuck after validating the package. It says: Installing update… 5%, but it’s not changing.
    after a couple of minutes it just quits, and reboots the phone to the current rom.

    Guys can anyone help me, I tried to update but now I’m stuck at emui menu with reboot system now, wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition. I tried everything but my phone just keeps coming to this menu, what do i do please help

    Thanks for update and guide, but let me know that firmware given above matched with my phone spec like i have KIW-L21C185B140 and custom built is CUSTC185D002, if I. Would try this, will it brick my phone.?

    And please brief me little what is European variant and other countries/regions variant.

      Both middle east and European variant has same build number but this update is only working on European Variant. This firmwares won’t work on Pakistan (Middle East) variant.
