Steps to Manually Update Honor 5X to Marshmallow –
1) First, download Android 6.0 for Honor 5X from above.
2) Now create a folder dload in the root of your internal storage or SD card and place the update.app file in that folder.
3) Now go to the phone settings–>update and press the menu button.
4) Now select choose Local update.
5) It will detect the update.app and installation process will start.
6) Wait until the installation process is complete and then reboot your device., you have latest firmware
7) Done.

Hey, I just tried using my KIW-L21 and when I tried to install, it just says installation aborted. Probably because it detected that the model isn’t the same. Guess we just have to wait. Thankfully my phone didn’t brick

you need the firmware of Huawei GR5. Download it and try, 100% sure.

The file is update.zip but inside it (firmware/image) there is an update.app (99.1MB). Should I unzip it first and use that one?
Yes, you should unzip the file and put update.app in ‘dload’ folder.
Well, tried it that way but it still didn’t work. This time it failed after 1% or so (almost instantly)…
Guess I’ll have to wait for Huawei to grace me with the OTA update… :/
KII is for KII only. It will not work on KIW because of some lines in updater script. It is for KII-21. When you updating it. It will automatically read the script and check your phone’s build.fingerprint which is KIW but in the script its KII. So no chance at all my friend.
