We’re in the middle of a golden age of television.

Between the never-ending list of hits coming out of the big name streaming services and the latest must-see on standard cable, there’s no shortage of fantastic shows available at your fingertips.

With that in mind, if you don’t have the right TV, you’re likely not enjoying all that this era of hit series has to offer.

If you’re getting tired of watching your favorite show on your phone but aren’t sure if it’s time to swap out your flat screen, we’re here to help.

Here are five tell-tale signs you desperately need to upgrade your big screen TV.

1. Dead Pixels

What starts as a barely noticeable cluster of red specks can escalate into a massive black hole in the middle of your screen before you know it.

Dead pixels are the bane of the modern LCD screen. And, while there are a few home remedies to rectify this problem temporarily, a scourge of spots is a sure sign that your TV has one foot in the grave.

Before you find yourself trying to decipher the latest twist in your favorite series through a plague of black bars, you should go ahead and upgrade to a fresher model.

2. Wrong Ports

Long gone are the days of RCA connector. Or, rather, the days of color-coded, audio and visual wires should be over and done with, and for a good reason.

The HDMI cable is the current almighty standard of the AV realm. That said, some people are still living in the stone-age.

If you’re still reverse-engineering a way to hook up your PS4 or other pieces of modern tech to the RCA ports on the back of your TV — then you’re well overdue for an upgrade.

3. No HD

The first high definition TVs hit the US market back in 1998. That’s over 20 years ago. HD has progressed by leaps and bounds since then and is a standard feature on all modern TVs.

Because HD is standard now if your TV lacks the capability to display high-def programs properly, you could be missing out on a lot of key aspects in your favorite new series.

4. Small Screen

Whether or not we want to admit it, TV is the modern world’s favorite pastime.

Our television sets are essentially the epicenters of our households. Because of this, your TV should be big enough for your entire family to enjoy without having to sit directly in front of the screen.

If your TV screen is too small to enjoy from the comfort of your couch, it’s time to upgrade to a proper big screen.

5. No Streaming Capabilities

Millions of TV lovers are cutting ties (or should we say cords!) with traditional cable.

Thanks to the rise of streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and HBO Go, more and more people are making the switch from old-fashioned cable programming to watching whenever and wherever they like.

While some are still keeping live TV around, thanks to IPTV providers, the fact remains that streaming is now king. So, your TV needs to be able to keep up.

If your current TV lacks smart TV or streaming capabilities, it’s time to consider upgrading. Not only will you get the option of streaming, but you can actually cast stuff from your iPhone.

It’s Time to Upgrade Your Big Screen TV

If your current TV isn’t letting you enjoy your favorite new shows the way you should, then it’s high time you upgraded to a newer model.

After all, there’s a lot of must-watch shows out there right now. And you deserve to be able to enjoy them all.
