Note: –

How to Update ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser to Marshmallow Manually –
1) To manually check the update, you can head over to Settings > About phone > System updates > Check For Update.
2) Enable ‘USB debugging’ option from setting>developer option>. To enable Developer Options, go to About phone and tap the Build Number 7 times.
3) To update Asus Zenfone 2 Laser to Marshmallow manually, you must be on software version 12.8.5.222 (Check at Settings>about>software version).
4) Download ADB and fastboot driver for windows or ADB and Fastboot for Mac and install it on your PC.
5) Download the Android Marshmallow Beta for Asus Zenfone 2 laser ZE500KL from above Copy ROM to a folder.
6) Now Turn Off your phone and boot into recovery mode by pressing Power+Volume down
7) Choose Apply Update from ADB
8) Now Connect your phone to Laptop/PC
9) On Marshmallow beta ROM folder press shift+right click and click on open command here.
10) Now check your connection by typing the below command
adb devices
if your device is listed you’re ready to flash the ROM
11) Flash the Marshmallow Beta ROM on Asus Zenfone 2 Laser by typing below command
adb sideload WW_ZE500KL_V13.10.6.15_20160417.zip
12) Now wait until the process complete and then Reboot the phone (first boot will be longer than 5 minutes)
13) Done! you Update ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser to Marshmallow successfully.

You can try it on rooted phone…if not work then you have to flash full stock lollipop firmware, flash it from adb and then flash the Marshmallow file
My question is, if this way is safe or has more risks then the one that is coming through OTA?

This is the official stock firmware so its completely safe…and its the same update which you will get via OTA. And you remain on stock firmware either you update via OTA or manually.

status 7 showed if you are not using completely stock firmware. Are you using custom ROM, recovery or disable any stock apps? or are you using rooted phone or unlock bootloader?
i disabled stock apps. will try to enable them all and try to update again, thanks.
update: the error still pops up, even after factory resetting.
my phone has never been rooted and not been bootloaded since I just got it recently.

I just download the update and after downloaded a pop comes i choose install later and when i get free from works and finding for update but there is no update its gone somewhere i keep find it everywhere but there is no any option. I scroll it to check for update but there’s is also no any update notification. I checked my version i m still on lollipop.
Im stuck with 1.13.40.444 version. Which one should i download is it 1.13.40.496 and so on? I had difficulties updating as i am skipping my previous update so i really had a hard time on this. Any advice would be better. (Ze550kl non rooted)

My friend’s asus zenfone laser got OTA update, which was downloaded, and put on install but something happened, she mentioned some error screen with options like reboot, she pressed power button, and phone is forver stuck on asus logo now, any advice ?
